About DNSYS
An open DNS network built around interoperability, independence and established Internet standards.
An open DNS network
DNSYS is an open DNS network for domains, subdomains and related Internet services. The goal is to provide flexible and accessible DNS infrastructure without tying the network to a single proprietary platform.
DNSYS is based on open Internet standards. Different DNS systems and server roles can work together, allowing the network to be distributed across multiple servers and extended independently.
BIND and PowerDNS
BIND is established open-source DNS server software and can provide authoritative and secondary DNS services. It is well suited to redundant nameserver infrastructure.
PowerDNS provides flexible authoritative DNS services with database integration and automation capabilities, making it useful for portal-based DNS management.
DNSYS can combine both through standard DNS mechanisms. For example, PowerDNS can provide an authoritative primary service while BIND operates as a secondary server. This supports redundancy, interoperability and independent operation.
Simple services on top of DNS
The DNSYS portal combines DNS records and subdomains with HTTP redirects and short URLs, while the underlying network remains based on standard DNS protocols.
